Constitution

Article I: Name and Purpose

 

Section 1. Southern Oregon Riders (SORIDERS)


Section 2. The purpose of this club is to create an organization where members can share their interest in motorcycle riding.


Article II: Membership

 
Section1. Membership is open to anybody who loves to ride and that have an interest in motorcycle riding. Because SORIDERS is an equal opportunity, affirmative action, diverse institution there will be no discrimination on the basis of age, color, gender, disability status, height, marital status, national origin, political persuasion, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status, weight, type of motorcycle (sport bike or some cruisers), riding ability, engine size, factory or aftermarket pipe status, or fuel octane preference.

 

Section 2. Membership can be obtained via completion of application and payment of any applicable membership fees on a yearly basis. All presidents and vice presidents have automatic lifetime memberships.


Article III: Officers

 
Section 1. President: The president oversees the management of the club, while actively pursuing future club activities.
Vice President: The V.P. helps to coordinate riding trips and club activities.
Secretary: The Secretary keeps track of member information, and all club forms.
Treasurer: The Treasurer is responsible for all financial dealings. Possible additional position of Road Captain: The Road Captain's mission is to get a group of riders from one point to another in a safe and efficient manner.


Section 2. Officers are appointed by the current officiating staff. Future officers will be elected in to office by a majority vote of all the current officers. Officers may maintain their position while they are a full member. Any officer may resign at any time.

 
Section 3. The duties of the officers are explained in Article 3, and other duties will an assigned on an as-needed basis by president, V.P. and officers. The President and V.P. will control all club financial and resource allocations.


Section 4. If an officer fails to fulfill his or her duties in an orderly fashion or fails to follow the rules of the club the officer can be removed from office. An officer is removed by a majority vote of the other officers. Any officer can appeal for the impeachment of another officer. The President and V.P. are allowed a veto in this matter.


Article IV: Operating Procedures.


Section 1. Monthly meetings will be held when plausible by officers and members. The primary meetings will be on the first Sundays at 6pm and are subject to change at any time. All members are encouraged to attend, but only two members need to be present to constitute an official club meeting.

 
Section 2. The agenda will be planned on an as needed basis for all meetings and activities. No agenda is needed for an official meeting prior to the meeting.

 
Section 3. Only two members need to be present for an official club activity. SORIDERS will provide opportunities for trips and riding outings.


Article V: Rules and Member Agreements.

 
Section 1. All members are required to ride within their own ability and to ride safely at all times. One member should not endanger the safety of other riders in any fashion. All members are required to follow all traffic laws. The club does not assume responsibility for the negligence of any of its members. All members assume full legal and financial liability and medical responsibility and liability for themselves while riding and doing other club activities. The motorcycle club is in no way responsible or liable for the actions of its individual members.


Article VI: Amendments.

 
Section 1. Amendments can be proposed and written by any members. An amendment will be ratified by a majority vote of the clubs officers. The president and V.P. can make amendments at their own discretion on an as needed basis.
